Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product? AND Question 5: How did you attract/ address your audience?
"INDIE" is the general term for individual and therefore, unique. Well known Indie/ Vintage celebrities include:
Cara Delevingne
Alexa Chung
Peaches Geldof
The audience for my music magazine would have idols similar to these who they look up to and want to follow fashion sense and music wise.
I attracted my target audience by dressing the cover girl in the same sort of style as my target audience. This gave a sort of bond to the target audience knowing the cover girl was like them. This also shows the genre of the music, telling people who exactly are the target audience. The overall mood of the front cover and the contents page is quite moody, something stereotypical of the Indie style, however, the double page spread shows a different, classier style to her which Indie people could also relate to as the style of the top still has a Vintage/ Indie type feel with the collar on the top.

Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
IPC (The International Publishing Corporation) is a 150 year old newspaper and magazine distribution company. Their most famous publication of music magazines are NME and Uncut.
Even though NME is very different to the genre and style of my magazine, IPC could have a gap in their company for an Indie/ Alternative magazine. Uncut has aspects of similarity, for example both include older bands and artists such as The Smiths and Paul Weller, however Uncut and my magazine, Identify, have different target audience also meaning IPC could have a gap in their company for me genre of magazine.
Bauer's most well known music magazines are Kerrang! and Mojo. These magazines are very different to mine so perhaps wouldn't be distributed by this company as their target audience aren't similar and the magazines would be hard to promote due to the differences in the musical genre and target audience. However, the plus side to the difference between the two magazines is that Bauer could have a gap in their company for an Indie magazine.
Future PLC is similar to Bauer in the way that both distribute rock music magazines. These include Classic Rock and Metal Hammer. I don't think my magazine would work well in Future PLC as I think the target audiences, again, are too different. Classic Rock and Metal Hammer are aimed more towards older men mainly, the complete opposite to my target audience. Due to this reason my magazine would not be distributed through this company.
Conclusion: To conclude, I would probably use IPC as a distribution company because they are a very big company so they have all types of target audiences behind them. Also, their popular music magazines are NME and Uncut, meaning a gap in their company is available which an Indie magazine would fill perfectly.

Double Page Spread Final
I decided the caption above the picture didn't work so I deleted it. I also added a few bits to make it look more realistic. This includes a website address at the bottom, a page number, the writer and photograph's names, the masthead at the top and a quote from the celebrity. This all follows conventions of similar music magazines.
Double page spread 2
I have continued to add the text as well as playing around with the caption at the top of the picture, deciding if it works or not.
Double page spread 1
Here, I have added my double page spread picture as well as just adding the beginning of the article to play around with and see what works well and what doesn't.

Front Cover- Identify
In my final piece, I added another plug onto the front cover, stating the price, as well as adding more rectangular shapes to give it a sense of continuity. I also made the whole cover a bit lighter to enhance the image and also make the text easier to use. I stuck to a basic white, black and grey text colours as the background and the guitar is quite colourful which makes the text hard to match up. This is why I stuck to basic text so I can keep the background the same, as well as the bright colours making the dull ones stand out.

Front Cover 2
For this draft, I just added a few extras to the cover. I added a plug to the "Reading festival line up: full review" coverlines. I also added the "Issue 254" bit to add a sense of realism to the cover.

Front Cover
For this, I used a rubbing out tool to make the cover image stand in front of the masthead. This gives a 3D type effect on the magazine and she is the main focus of attention. I put a shadow on the words "Callie Wren" which makes the coverline even bolder and one of the main focal points. I used a rectangular shape to highlight some of the band and artists names to give the front cover some layers and look a bit edgy.

Music Magazine Propsal
I am aiming my music magazine at teenager from around 16 to early to mid tweenties. Predominately, the magazine will be aimed towards females, because of the female artist used, but it will still include male artists and bands too.
My magazine will be Indie genre based, which will be shown to the audience through use of props and costumes associated with that style of clothing. It will also be apparent by puffs and coverlines on the front cover and contents, which will feature Indie bands and artists.
I have decided on the title "identify" as this has many connotations with the genre. Indie music is mostly of independent music labels, or just an artist or band who aren't signed to any recording label, this means they base their music on their identity. I had also had other titles such as "independent," "jukebox," and "unsigned" but I decided to not use these names as I feel they don't have the same impact or connotations.
They main font I have decided to use is called "impact" and its quite big and bold, which fits in with the identity theme as they need to grab peoples attention with it. For the coverlines, I have used the same font but without the effect of a shadow which means the coverlines do not take attention from the main headline.
I have not decided to use a tagline as I feel the title "identify" speaks for itself and doesn't need anything to reinforce the idea of gaining identity.
The kinds of images I am using are quite moody ones using my female model as an individual artist. I have pictured her in front of a brick wall which gives the connotations of the artist not being flassy etc and just being about her and her music. I have also pictured her on a scooter, a stereotypical indie way of travelling, on the floor and in front of a shed, which also gives the same connotations as the brick wall.
From looking at the prices of other music magazines, I have decided to price my magazine at a reasonable £3.50 as this isn't too expensive but still enough money to produce good quality paper and interviews with bands, artists etc.
My ideas for coverlines include an interview with an up and coming artist but also including more well known artists and bands such as Kodaline, The xx and alt-J. This will then attract audiences that are interested in those bands, as well as introducing them to new ones and forming a bigger fanbase for up and coming artists. I will also include gig and festival reviews on my coverlines.
