Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product? AND Question 5: How did you attract/ address your audience?

"INDIE" is the general term for individual and therefore, unique. Well known Indie/ Vintage celebrities include:

Cara Delevingne

Alexa Chung

Peaches Geldof

The audience for my music magazine would have idols similar to these who they look up to and want to follow fashion sense and music wise.

I attracted my target audience by dressing the cover girl in the same sort of style as my target audience. This gave a sort of bond to the target audience knowing the cover girl was like them. This also shows the genre of the music, telling people who exactly are the target audience. The overall mood of the front cover and the contents page is quite moody, something stereotypical of the Indie style, however, the double page spread shows a different, classier style to her which Indie people could also relate to as the style of the top still has a Vintage/ Indie type feel with the collar on the top.

Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

IPC (The International Publishing Corporation) is a 150 year old newspaper and magazine distribution company. Their most famous publication of music magazines are NME and Uncut.

Even though NME is very different to the genre and style of my magazine, IPC could have a gap in their company for an Indie/ Alternative magazine. Uncut has aspects of similarity, for example both include older bands and artists such as The Smiths and Paul Weller, however Uncut and my magazine, Identify, have different target audience also meaning IPC could have a gap in their company for me genre of magazine.

Bauer's most well known music magazines are Kerrang! and Mojo. These magazines are very different to mine so perhaps wouldn't be distributed by this company as their target audience aren't similar and the magazines would be hard to promote due to the differences in the musical genre and target audience. However, the plus side to the difference between the two magazines is that Bauer could have a gap in their company for an Indie magazine.

Future PLC is similar to Bauer in the way that both distribute rock music magazines. These include Classic Rock and Metal Hammer. I don't think  my magazine would work well in Future PLC as I think the target audiences, again, are too different. Classic Rock and Metal Hammer are aimed more towards older men mainly, the complete opposite to my target audience. Due to this reason my magazine would not be distributed through this company.

Conclusion: To conclude, I would probably use IPC as a distribution company because they are a very big company so they have all types of target audiences behind them. Also, their popular music magazines are NME and Uncut, meaning a gap in their company is available which an Indie magazine would fill perfectly.

Contents page- Final

Contents page 1

Double Page Spread Final

I decided the caption above the picture didn't work so I deleted it. I also added a few bits to make it look more realistic. This includes a website address at the bottom, a page number, the writer and photograph's names, the masthead at the top and a quote from the celebrity. This all follows conventions of similar music magazines.

Double page spread 2

I have continued to add the text as well as playing around with the caption at the top of the picture, deciding if it works or not.

Double page spread 1

Here, I have added my double page spread picture as well as just adding the beginning of the article to play around with and see what works well and what doesn't.
